Red Anthurium

The anthurium of the Araceae family is an extremely hardy bloom because of its waxy thick petals and corrugated-like patterns that help to catch water and falling debris…a natural food pantry of sorts!  For obvious reasons, it is also called the Boy Flower.  But I prefer its other namesake, the Flamingo Flower, as it can, in just the right pose on its long slender stem and in just the right color of salmon, resemble a magnificent flamingo.
