The Bird of Paradise, Strelitzia reginae, a native of South Africa, grows abundantly and flourishes in Hawaii's climate. Closely related to the banana, the Bird of Paradise, though, is most noted for its resemblance to its namesake, a brightly and heavenly-plumed bird of the same name.
